Thank you for visiting my cancer blog. I began this blog as a CaringBridge journal on October 22nd, 2015, when I went public with my diagnosis. I migrated to a Google blog in February of 2016 in an effort to reach more readers. It’s my privilege to share my story here as well. I hope my story will help many more people because of this site. I’m excited and honored to be WarOnCancer.com’s first prostate cancer blogger, and first American writer.
If you’re new here, you’ll soon see that this blog is about more than my cancer. Much more. It’s about what God is teaching me, and how he is revealing himself to me as I go through this process. It’s my desire to encourage men and their loved ones who are dealing with this disease. The idea behind the title, “God’s 2 By 4” is that God had to metaphorically hit me over the head with a wooden plank to get my attention. But he has it now.
Far too many men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. Far too many die from it, or live with serious side effects and reduced quality of life after treatment. I feel like my calling is to document my journey, and show how God is transforming my life. Not in spite of the cancer, but because of it. I want to show others that God can transform their lives in the midst of this hardship too.
I am a Christian, and this blog has a decided Christian slant. You’ll see many biblical references in it. But I try hard to make this a place for everyone. You will find no judgment here. No proselytizing. Only hope, love, faith, and grace. And jokes. I try to add humor as much as I can. I hope this blog makes you laugh, think, and be inspired.
I also try to be as transparent as I can be about my treatment and its effects on me. I want to give you this window into what it’s like to go through this. I feel like it will help others if I do that.
Thanks again for joining me here, whoever you are, whether you or a loved one has cancer or not. Whether you know me personally or not. You are welcome here.
The decision to write this blog is one of the best I’ve ever made. I hope you enjoy it, but more than that, I hope it helps you in some way.
